Excellence Advantage Inspirations
Quarterly Summary
I created these bi-weekly articles for you, my clients and colleagues, to offer insights and inspirations as you seek to create your distinctive excellence advantage… for your organizations, for your departments/programs, for your effectiveness as a leader.
I am hopeful that as you review the various articles – some that you might have had the opportunity to read when they first arrived and others that slipped by in these incredibly hectic times – that you find one or two ideas, or one or two questions, that give you a new insight or next action which will improve your situation. It is my privilege to work with each of you and to share these inspirations (many of which we have created in our work together) to be of help to you and to other leaders who continually strive for excellence for those you serve, for your organizations, and for your staff who make it all possible.
Here is a recap of the topics over the past quarter with easy links to read those of most interest.
If there are topics that you’d like me to cover in the next quarter, please send me a note or let me know when we are talking together over the next couple of weeks.
Focus on Your Best
Your best leaders. You will learn from them as much as they will learn from you. These are not the ones that demand your time. They use every minute of your time with great care, with great intention, for maximum value.
Being an Exemplar
When we more deeply understand the nature of change, transition, and transformation, we can more expertly guide our teams and our organizations to achieve aspirational visions. Organizations change because individuals change. Adept change agents help individuals move through the transitions.
Where Are We Going?
As senior leaders, one of our most vital roles is setting the organizational direction. Our organizations are looking for clarity about where we are going.
Make It Happen
With clarity on where you are headed, the key then becomes delivery – consistently executing on our plans to deliver continuously improving results that are of the utmost importance to our organization’s future.
Best Case, Worst Case: Are You Ready for Omicron?
Omicron caused us to re-visit assumptions and plan for unprecedented scenarios…just as we hoped we could relax for the holidays. Let’s remember these lessons in future crisis situations. Increase your organizational preparedness. Decrease your risks. Have a plan. In fact, have a Plan A, a Plan B, and a Plan C by asking these 10 questions.
Manage = Measure
Your measurement system is your hardwired communications system. You can accelerate progress by having your measures clearly tied to your organization’s strategic direction and shared within and across the organization.
Are We There Yet?
Two key parts for our leadership meetings: a review of key performance measures and an (honest) assessment of progress to plans. One without the other and we don’t have a clear picture of our future progress.
Communicating What Matters
Do your staff know where the organization is headed and feel a part of getting there?
