In Pursuit of Excellence
What comes to mind for you when you think of organizational transformation? Organizational excellence?…
For many of you, and many of my clients, one or both of these are front and center. For others, you are just beginning to contemplate the need or desire for significant transformative change in your organization or programs.
There are numerous reasons that organizations choose to embark on a true organizational transformation:
- For some there is a burning platform — an urgent need to undergo significant change in order to survive.
- For others, it is driven by a desire to position the organization differently in the marketplace, in the region, as a way to attract new customers.
- Some are seeking to reach a significantly higher level of performance, to achieve an ambitious vision, to create a distinctive excellence advantage.
Let me share a few examples to illustrate a range of possibilities.
I am currently working with an organization who is striving to be a model of excellence for innovative health care services. This aspirational vision guides their efforts as they plan, improve, and deliver services. They seek to create their excellence advantage within their local area by deeply understanding and then comprehensively serving the needs of the diverse population in their locale.
Another client has set their vision to be the model health center of the future. They are in the early days of their organizational transformation, guided by this vision and all that it entails for their community, their patients, and their staff. They seek to be an innovator in the use of technology, enabling them to care for patients across a wide geographic area.
Another is seeking to add two new service lines which will substantially change the mix of services they offer and to create a business model which has not yet been utilized in this region of the US. This leader has spent his career seeing possibilities years ahead of the market. And yet again, he is crafting a unique model of service to be first to the market.
And another client is steadfastly setting and then executing their strategic direction, year after year. In this steady manner, they have transformed the workings of the organization. Not radical, disruptive change, but a purposeful and transformative repositioning of the organization for long-term success.
Each organization transforming itself to create their distinctive excellence advantage.
Each organization in pursuit of organizational excellence.
